The De Vries Experience
Our 8-Step Process
1. Discovery
Your initial consultation is an opportunity to shape your vision and discuss your project, your inspirations, and your budget.
The following information will be required during the discovery stage:
- Finishes: Paint color and/or wood finish.
- Measurements: If your project is a new build, or you have the dimensioned plans of the space, those plans will be sufficient.
- Pictures: Take pictures of your space, don’t hold back! We want to see everything. Title each picture with what it is showing. (For example: “wall to left of sink”)
- Appliances: Select your appliances and sink(s). We will work with whatever you choose as long as detailed product specifications, including required clearances, are sent to us.
If you need help deciding on materials and hardware for your project, we are happy to collaborate with you to select cabinet features, finishes and custom options.
2. Project Estimate
After gathering the necessary information and establishing a preliminary layout (completed by your architect, interior designer, or by us), we will provide a complimentary project estimate. Your project estimate will be accurately detailed and defined for review. This estimate is projected to remain within 10% of the final contracted cost, assuming no substantial additions or changes.
3. Retain Our Services
If the project estimate aligns with your budget and you choose to move forward, we will provide a contract and an invoice for the detailed shop drawings. The deposit for these drawings is 10% of the project estimate and will be applied toward your final purchase.
Once we receive your deposit and a signed contract, you will officially become a client. At this point, we will require all items outlined in the Discovery phase to proceed to the Collaborative Design phase.
The deposit includes one revision of the drawings. If additional revisions are required, they will be billed at our hourly rate, are non-refundable and will not be applied toward your cabinetry purchase.
4. Collaborative Design
At this stage, we begin developing your project by finalizing major design plans and elevations and collaborating with project partners. The timeline for this process varies depending on the project’s scope and feedback from key decision-makers. We ensure responsiveness to any time-sensitive needs while maintaining an efficient and thorough design process.
During this phase, we will visit your home or project site to confirm measurements and familiarize ourselves with your space.
5. Final Agreement
Shop drawings will be sent to you for your review and approval. Once your design has been approved, final pricing for the project will be provided and a revised contract if necessary. Prior to production, the next deposit is due, amounting to 50% of the total contract value.
Upon acceptance, we will send you an invoice. Once payment is received, materials will be ordered, and your project will be scheduled for production.
6. Scheduling & Production
Production at our shop varies depending on the project specifications and current run of schedule. We work hard to accommodate special requests and ensure a reasonable timeline. You will be provided with an estimated delivery date to serve as a guide in setting proper production timelines and delivery of your project.
7. Installation
Once production of your project is complete and awaiting delivery, the next installment of 30% of the contract value becomes due. Upon receiving this payment, DFW will carefully load and transport your finished products to their destination. We will work with you and your team to schedule your delivery and installation. All our installations are performed by DFW employed artisans. Our team of experts ensures a quality client experience from start to finish.
8. Completion
After completing the installation, we will issue a final invoice and schedule a meeting with you to conclude the project. During this meeting, we will address any remaining questions and discuss any additional requirements. Our goal is to ensure your complete satisfaction with the finished product.
